Zhvanets fortified settlement
Zhvanets fortified settlement. A fortified Trypillia culture settlement of the early 3rd millennium BC located near Zhvanets, Kamianets-Podilskyi raion, Khmelnytskyi oblast. Excavations in the 1960s revealed that the massive earthen defensive walls were built over a stone base. Located outside the defensive perimeter was a pottery-making complex with seven double-ledged kilns. The pottery fragments unearthed in this area were frequently decorated with images of humans, animals, birds, and hunting scenes.
