Zaklynsky, Roman
Zaklynsky, Roman [Заклинський, Роман; Zaklyns’kyj], b 8 April 1852 in Mariiampil, Stanyslaviv circle, Galicia, d 20 March 1931 in Trostianets, Stanyslaviv circle, Galicia. Western Ukrainian pedagogue and education activist; brother of Kornylo Zaklynsky; father of Bohdan Zaklynsky, Kornylo R. Zaklynsky, and Rostyslav Zaklynsky. Zaklynsky was a founding member of the Ridna Shkola society and a coeditor of the society's educational publication series, Biblioteka dlia Molodi (Library for Young People). He wrote many books for popular consumption, including Heohrafiia Rusy (The Geography of Rus’, 1887), and contributed to such periodicals as Hazeta shkol’na.
