Zaikevych, Anastasii
Zaikevych, Anastasii [Зайкевич, Анастасій; Zajkevyč, Anastasij], b 1842 in Matiashivskyi khutir, Lubny county, Poltava gubernia, d December 1931 in Lubny. Agronomist and plant physiologist. A graduate of New Russia University (1870), he taught at Kharkiv University (1877–1919). He was a key figure in the development of scientific agricultural research in the territories of the Russian Empire. He founded the Poltava and Solonytsia experimental farms, the Kharkiv Selection Station, and the Lubny Research Station of Medicinal Plants (see Medicinal plants).
