Yefremov, Serhii F.
Yefremov, Serhii F. [Єфремов, Сергій; Jefremov, Serhij], b 20 September 1893 in Zelenkiv, Kyiv gubernia, d 18 December 1966 in Astoria, New York State, USA. Senior army officer. Serving as an officer in the Russian army, in 1917 he Ukrainianized Russian army units in the Katerynoslav region and was sent as a delegate to the First and Second All-Ukrainian military congresses. In 1918 he commanded a regiment of the UNR Army, which fought the Red Army around Katerynoslav. Then he served, at the rank of lieutenant colonel, as a special staff officer at the headquarters of the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic. In the interwar period he lived in Transcarpathia, and in March 1939 he served, at the rank of colonel, as commander of the Carpathian Sich. After the Second World War he emigrated to the United States, where he was a founding member of the United Ukrainian War Veterans in America.
