Volkovych, Ioanykii

Volkovych, Ioanykii [Volkovyč, Joanykij]. Seventeenth-century Lviv priest and lecturer at the Lviv Dormition Brotherhood School. He was the author of a passion play titled Rozmyshlian’ie o mutsie Khrysta Spasytelia nasheho (Reflections on the Sufferings of Christ Our Saviour, 1631). Written in verse as a dialogue, it is one of the earliest examples of dramatic literature in the Ukrainian language.
