Tsymbalisty, Yevhen

Tsymbalisty, Yevhen [Цимбалістий, Євген; Cymbalistyj, Jevhen], b 29 January 1909 in Bovshiv, Rohatyn county, Galicia, d 5 May 1967 in Munich, West Germany. Conductor, composer, and teacher. He studied music at Lviv University and at the Szymanowski Conservatory in Lviv. In 1934 he moved to Berlin, where he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik. His works include the choral-orchestral Suite of Traveling Songs, Suite of Love Songs, and Hunting Suite; a cantata on the biblical text ‘I Am the Beginning and the End’; and arrangements of German and Ukrainian folk songs for chorus.
