Trenton. See Google Map. The capital (2020 pop 90,871, metropolitan area 387,340) of New Jersey, and an industrial center on the Delaware River. In 1980 there were about 2,000 Ukrainians in the area. Immigrants from Transcarpathia began to arrive in Trenton in the 1890s. By 1900 they had established a Greek Catholic parish, and by 1919 an Orthodox parish. In 1903 a branch of the Ruthenian National Association was set up. Saint Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic parish was founded in 1949. A large Ukrainian-American cultural center is situated on the south side of the city.
