Teneta, Borys
Teneta, Borys (Тенета, Борис; pseudonym of Borys Hurii), b 8 April 1903 in Pokrovske, Katerynoslav gubernia, d 6 February 1935 in Kyiv. Writer. His poetry was first published in 1924 in the journal Chervonyi shliakh. He contributed to the periodicals Zoria (Dnipropetrovsk), Zhyttia i revoliutsiia, Hlobus, and the journal Nova hromada. He was a member of the literary organization MARS and is best known for his prose, such as the collections of short stories Lysty z Krymu (Letters from the Crimea, 1927), Harmoniia i svynushnyk (Harmony and the Pigsty, 1928), Desiata sekunda (The Tenth Second, 1929), Budni (Ordinary Days, 1930), Nenavys'’ (Hatred, 1930), and P’ianytsi (Drunkards, 1930). He was arrested during the Stalinist terror in 1935, and committed suicide in prison.
