Suprunenko, Mykola
Suprunenko, Mykola [Супруненко, Микола], b 17 February 1900 in Poltava, d 11 September 1984 in Kyiv. Historian; member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR from 1972. After graduating from the Institute of Red Professors (1937) he worked at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (as professor from 1955 and as director of the Department of the Great October Revolution and Civil War from 1960). His works include Ukraïna v period inozemnoï voiennoï interventsiï i hromadians'koï Viiny (1918–1920 rr.) (Ukraine in the Period of Foreign Armed Intervention and Civil War [1918–20], 1951), Ukraina v Velikoi Otechestvennoi voine Sovetskogo Soiuza (1941–1945 gg.) (Ukraine in the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union [1941–5], 1956), and Pobeda Sovetskoi vlasti na Ukraine (The Triumph of Soviet Power in Ukraine, 1967 [coauthor]).
