Strakhov, Tymofii
Strakhov, Tymofii [Страхов, Тимофій; Straxov, Tymofij], b 4 February 1890 in Luchki, Kursk gubernia, Russia, d 11 October 1960 in Kharkiv. Mycologist and phytopathologist; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR from 1948. A graduate of Kharkiv University (1916), he worked at the Kharkiv Agricultural Research Station (1913–30, from 1919 as department head), the Ukrainian Scientific Research Station of Plant Conservation (1930–2), and the Institute of Genetics and Selection of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1949–56). He lectured at the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute (from 1918) and at Kharkiv University (from 1921). He proposed a theory about the pathological process in plants and developed a number of immunization measures.
