Sheveliv, Borys
Sheveliv, Borys [Шевелів, Борис; Ševeliv], b 2 April 1893 in Chernihiv, d 17 April 1938 in Kyiv. Literary scholar. In the 1920s and early 1930s he was a member of the Chernihiv Scientific Society of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (VUAN) and an associate of the VUAN Commission for the Study of Left-Bank Ukraine. He published articles on Leonid Hlibov, Panteleimon Kulish, Stepan Nis, Anatolii Svydnytsky, Oleksander Lazarevsky, and the Chernihiv Hromada in VUAN serials, such as Za sto lit and Ukraïna (1914–30), and compendiums, and edited an edition of Hlibov’s works (1927). He was arrested in 1938 during the Stalinist terror and subsequently executed. He was ‘rehabilitated’ in 1957.
