Segedi, Yoakym
Segedi, Yoakym or Joakim (Сегеді, Йоаким), b 27 October 1904 in Ruski Krstur, Bačka region, d 20 March 2004 in Križevci, Croatia. He was ordained in 1927 by Bishop Dionisii Niaradi and served a priest in the Bačka region. He was the spiritual director of the Greek Catholic Theological Seminary in Zagreb from 1930 to 1936 and the Bishop Niaradi’s personal assistant from 1936 to 1940. In 1963 Segedi was consecrated (by Metropolitan Yosyf Slipy and Archbishop Havryil Bukatko) auxiliary bishop of Križevci eparchy, and he later served as bishop of that eparchy (1981–3). In March 2004, three days before his death, he was elevated in rank of the titular archbishop with the same titular see of Gypsaria.
