Savchenko, Yurii

Savchenko, Yurii [Савченко, Юрій; Savčenko, Jurij], b 1908? in Poltava gubernia, d ? Literary scholar and critic; associate of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Research Institute in Kharkiv in the 1920s. In the 1920s and 1930s he wrote articles about contemporary writers and a brochure on the history of Taras Shevchenko’s grave (1929) and edited an edition of Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko’s works. He was arrested in 1934 and incarcerated in a Soviet labor camp, where he most likely perished.
