Rudyk, Stepan

Rudyk, Stepan [Рудик, Степан], b 1890 in Tysmenytsia, Tovmach county, Galicia, d 1939? Political activist, member of the Communist Party of Western Ukraine (#KPZU), and journalist. In 1923–31 in Lviv he edited the Marxist literary and political journal Kul'tura (Lviv). For defending the ideas of Shumskyism and Khvylovism (see Oleksander Shumsky and Mykola Khvylovy) he was expelled from the Party in 1927. He mustered opposition to the KPZU in Galicia and worked with the Trotskyite opposition. He was arrested by the #Soviets in 1939 and was probably executed.
