Reshetylo, Stepan

Reshetylo, Stepan [Решетило, Степан; Rešetylo], b 26 January 1889 in Uhniv, Galicia, d 26 December 1950 in Dawson, Pennsylvania, USA. Basilian priest. He joined the Basilian monastic order in 1905 and was ordained in 1915, and then became master of novices at the Krekhiv Monastery. He was sent to Transcarpathia in 1924, following a reform of the Basilian monastic order there. Together with other monks from Galicia he created the Saint Josaphat Missionary Society and carried out major educational and missionary activity. In 1929–30 he was hegumen of the Basilian monastery in Warsaw, and in 1931–5, protohegumen for the order in Galicia. He returned to Transcarpathia in 1935 and served as personal secretary to Bishop Dionisii Niaradi (1938–9). After the Second World War he moved to the United States of America.
