Radziejowski, Janusz

Radziejowski, Janusz, b 3 June 1925 in Kyiv, d 10 March 2002 in Warsaw. Polish historian. He was educated at the Higher School of Economics and Statistics in Moscow (1949–54) and worked for the Soviet census bureau, where he compiled information about nationality groups in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Following the rehabilitation of his father (who had perished in the Stalinist purges) in 1959, Radziejowski moved to Warsaw and worked at the Institute of Party History (to 1970) and the Institute of Scientific Policy, Technological Progress, and Higher Education. In 1970 he received a Ph D in history from Warsaw University. He wrote articles on Polish-Ukrainian relations and on the impact of collectivization on Ukraine. His English-language monograph on the Communist Party of Western Ukraine (The Communist Party of Western Ukraine, 1919–1929, 1983) is a revised translation of his work in Polish (1976).
