Press Office of the Supreme Command of the Ukrainian Galician Army
Press Office of the Supreme Command of the Ukrainian Galician Army (Пресова кватира Начальної команди УГА; Presova kvatyra Nachalnoi komandy UHA). A press and information department that from January 1919 to January 1920 organized education and entertainment for the soldiers of the Ukrainian Galician Army (UHA) and civilians and publicized the army’s activities and the cause of Ukrainian independence. Headed by I. Erdenberger, Ivan Herasymovych, and, from November 1919, Osyp Levytsky, it published the newspapers Kozats’kyi holos (68 issues, 1919–20) and Strilets’, the almanac Ukraïns’kyi prapor, pamphlets, and leaflets and organized lectures, plays, concerts, public meetings, and libraries on wheels. The office had information bureaus in the three UHA corps and representatives in all the brigades. UHA officers attached to the press office included writers and journalists, such as Ivan Krevetsky, Vasyl Pachovsky, Roman Kovshevych, Roman Kupchynsky, Lev Lepky, and Vasyl Bobynsky.
