Predslavych, Leonid

Predslavych, Leonid [Предславич, Леонід; Predslavyč], b 1897, d 25 March 1960 in Kharkiv. Stage director, writer, and actor. He was an actor in Les Kurbas’s Molodyi Teatr and Kyidramte (1917–21) and then organized and directed workers’ and peasants’ theaters in Odesa (1924), Yelysavethrad (1926), and Kharkiv (1927) and published Peresuvnyi robitnycho-selians'kyi teatr (Touring Workers’ and Peasants’ Theater) in 1928. In 1945–50 he directed the Transcarpathian Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater in Uzhhorod. He adapted Ivan Franko’s Boryslavs'ki opovidannia (The Boryslav Stories, 1956) and wrote the libretto to Kostiantyn Dankevych’s opera Nazar Stodolia (1959).
