Narodnia sprava (Lviv)

Narodnia sprava (Lviv) («Народня справа»; People’s Cause). An illustrated weekly newspaper for peasants, published by Ivan Tyktor in Lviv in 1928–39 and edited by Yurii Shkrumeliak and then V. Bachynsky. It generally supported the Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance (UNDO) and was popular among the peasantry. By 1938 it had reached a circulation of 40,000, at least partly because of its policy of financially aiding subscribers whose properties had been destroyed by fire or whose cattle had died. The annual calendar (kalendar) Zolotyi kolos (from 1929) and a series of 18 popular booklets (1929–34) were published by the newspaper.
