Misionar
Misionar («Місіонар»; Missionary). A religious journal published by the Basilian monastic order, with some interruptions, between 1897 and 1944. It began in Lviv, but soon moved to the Zhovkva monastery, the main center of Basilian activity. During the First World War it appeared in Zagreb, Croatia, and in 1940–1 it was published in Peremyshl. Initially the journal appeared semimonthly, but later it became a monthly. During 1921–39 it was called Misionar presviatoho sertsia Isusovoho. Several supplements to Misionar were published, including Malyi misionarchyk for children (1903–14, 1939). Among the editors of Misionar were Platonid Petro Filias (1897–8 and 1921–6), L. Berezovsky (1898–1908 and 1916–20), Yepifan Teodorovych (1908–12), and M. Marysiuk (1927–32 and 1940–1). Misionar was one of the most popular journals of its kind and was regularly published in a pressrun of 30,000 to 40,000 copies.
