Meretyn, Bernard (Merderer, Merettini, Meretynych), b late 17th century, d 1758 in Lviv. Galician architect of German origin. His projects include Saint George's Cathedral in Lviv (1745–70), the town hall in Buchach (1751), and a number of Polish churches. His buildings are in the rococo style, with some transitional classicist features and traditional Ukrainian adaptations. They are distinguished by their grace and elegance, attention to detail, and use of sculpture.
