Malynovsky, Oleksander
Malynovsky, Oleksander [Малиновський, Олександер; Malynovs'kyj], b 12 January 1889 in Zhukiv, Zolochiv county, Galicia, d 18 November 1957 in Bradford, England. Ukrainian Catholic priest. After finishing the Peremyshl State Gymnasium, he worked and then joined the Austrian army (1911–20); he eventually attained the rank of captain in the Ukrainian Galician Army. After further studies, he was ordained in 1925. He held a number of administrative positions in 1927–40 at the Greek Catholic Theological Seminary in Lviv and the Greek Catholic Theological Academy. In 1940 he became apostolic administrator of the Lemko Apostolic Administration (1940–46). After the Second World War he was rector of the Ukrainian Catholic theological seminaries in Germany and Holland. He moved to England in 1950, where he was the Ukrainian Catholic vicar general for the United Kingdom until his death.
