Maksymeiko, Mykola

Maksymeiko, Mykola [Максимейко, Микола; Maksymejko], b 17 June 1870 in Batsmany, Romny county, Poltava gubernia, d 14 April 1941 in Kharkiv. Legal historian; from 1926 a corresponding member of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (later the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR). Having graduated from Kyiv University (1892), he lectured at Kharkiv University (1897–1925). After chairing the section on the history of Ukrainian law at the Kharkiv Institute of People's Education (1926–34), he became a senior research associate of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. He specialized in Rus’ law and Lithuanian-Ruthenian law. His more important works were Seimy Litovsko-Russkogo gosudarstva do Liublinskoi unii 1569 goda (The Diets of the Lithuanian-Ruthenian State up to the Union of Lublin of 1569, 1902), Opyt kriticheskogo issledovaniia Russkoi Pravdy (An Attempt at a Critical Examination of Ruskaia Pravda, 1914), and ‘Systema Rus'koï Pravdy v ïï poshyrenii redaktsiï’ (The System of the Ruskaia Pravda in Its Expanded Edition), Pratsi Komisiï dlia vyuchuvannia istoriï zakhidnorus'koho ta ukraïns'koho prava, no. 2, 1926.
