Livesay, Florence Randal

Livesay, Florence Randal (family name: Randal), b 3 November 1874 in Compton, Quebec, d 28 July 1953 in Toronto, Ontario. Journalist and author. She translated into English a volume of Ukrainian verse, Songs of Ukraina (1916), with the assistance of Pavlo Krat and others. She also translated Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko’s Marusia (1940), assisted by Krat and Theodore Humeniuk. A collection of her various translations (including dumas) and writings on Ukrainian topics was published in 1981 as Down Singing Centuries: Folk Literature of the Ukraine.
