Kohl, Johann Georg

Kohl, Johann Georg, b 28 April 1808 in Bremen, d 28 October 1878 in Bremen. German geographer and traveler, who visited Ukraine in 1838. His Reisen in Südrussland (2 vols, 1841) and Reisenim Innern von Russland und Polen (pts 2–3, 1841) provide valuable descriptions of Ukraine and its people in the first half of the 19th century.
