Kalmiius River

Kalmiius River or Kalmius River [Кальміюс; Kal'mijus]. A river dissecting the Donets Ridge, flowing through Donetsk oblast, and emptying into the Sea of Azov near Mariupol. It is 210 km long and has a basin area of 5,070 sq km. This unnavigable river supplies the northwestern Donets Basin with water for domestic and industrial use. The upper Kalmiius is connected to the Donets River by the Donets-Donbas Canal. Four reservoirs have been built on the river.
