Ivanytsky-Vasylenko, Serhii

Ivanytsky-Vasylenko, Serhii [Іваницький-Василенко, Сергій; Ivanyc'kyj-Vasylenko, Serhij], b 15 February 1883 in Zolotonosha, Poltava gubernia, d 10 February 1984 in Kyiv. Historian of Ukrainian law, cofounder and secretary of the Commission for the Study of the History of Western-Ruthenian and Ukrainian Law at the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in Kyiv during the 1920s. Areas of his research and study included the history of Magdeburg law in Ukraine and the use of land by the aristocracy in the Hetman state. Together with Lev Okinshevych, he compiled a bibliography of Lithuanian-Ruthenian law and a guide to materials on the history of Ukraine in Polnoe sobranie zakonov Rosiiskoi Imperii. He translated many works on Polish legal history.
