Huliaiev, Oleksa

Huliaiev, Oleksa or Oleksii [Гуляєв, Олекса (Олексій); Huljajev], b 1 March 1863 in Kyiv, d 27 November 1923 in Kyiv. Jurist of civil law and specialist in Roman law; member of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. After graduating from Kyiv University, he continued his studies in Berlin. He lectured at Dorpat (Tartu), Kyiv (1894–1908), Saint Petersburg, and Moscow universities. In 1920 he was appointed professor at the Kyiv Institute of the National Economy. His chief works are Naem uslug (Hiring of Labor, 1893) and Russkoe grazhdanskoe pravo (Russian Civil Law, 1913).
