Hordon, Volodymyr

Hordon, Volodymyr [Гордон, Володимир], b 25 October 1871 in Lokhvytsia, Poltava gubernia, d 3 January 1926 in Kharkiv. Specialist in civil law and civil procedure. In 1906 he was appointed professor of Kharkiv University, and in 1920 of the Kharkiv Institute of the National Economy. In 1925 he was elected full member of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He directed the legal department of the People's Commissariat of Internal Trade of the Ukrainian SSR and took part in the preparation of the Civil Code of the Ukrainian SSR and the Civil Procedure Code of the Ukrainian SSR. His chief works are Status grazhdanskogo sudoproizvodstva (The Status of Civil Court Procedure, 1914) and Sistema sovetskogo torgovogo prava (The System of Soviet Trade Law, 1924).
