Holubovych, Sydir
Holubovych, Sydir [Голубович, Сидір; Holubovyč], b 18 March 1873 in Tovstenke, Kopychyntsi county, Galicia, d 12 January 1938 in Lviv. Civic and political leader; lawyer. He was head of the student Academic Hromada (Lviv) and later a civic activist in the Ternopil region. In 1911 he was elected to the Austrian parliament and in 1913 to the Galician Diet, representing the National Democratic party. In 1915 he was a member of the General Ukrainian Council. He was secretary of justice in the first government of the Western Ukrainian National Republic (1918); later he became head of the State Secretariat of the Western Ukrainian National Republic and secretary of finance, trade, and industry. After 1919 he was a leading member of the Ukrainian Labor party, and in 1925 he participated in the founding of the Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance.
