Hlobus
Hlobus («Глобус»). A popular, illustrated semimonthly periodical published in Kyiv from November 1923 to December 1935, as a supplement first to the newspaper Bil’shovyk (1919–25), then (from 1925) to Proletars’ka pravda. It was edited by Samiilo Shchupak with the assistance of Borys Antonenko-Davydovych. The journal published short stories, novellas, poems, travel reports, translated literature, and art and theater reviews. It reported on international and national events, on cultural affairs, and on developments in science and technology. Hlobus published the works of such writers as Mykola Bazhan, Oleksa Vlyzko, Mykhailo Ivchenko, Yakiv Kachura, Teodosii Osmachka, Yevhen Pluzhnyk, Ivan Le, Hryhorii Kosynka, Yakiv Savchenko, Semen Skliarenko, Mykola Tereshchenko, Maksym Rylsky, and Yurii Yanovsky, many of whom were members of the writers’ group MARS.
