Freedom International
Freedom International (Інтернаціонал свободи; Internatsional svobody). Anti-Communist organization of émigrés from Eastern Europe, founded in 1946 in West Germany by Orest Zybachynsky and other members of the OUN (Melnyk faction) to counterbalance the existing Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations formed by the OUN (Bandera faction). From 1952 its headquarters were in Rome. The Buenos Aires branch was very active in the 1950s. The membership included Albanians, Belarusians, Bulgarians, Georgians, Chinese, Lithuanians, Poles, Rumanians, Slovaks, Slovenes, Croatians, Czechs, and Ukrainians. Vasyl Fedoronchuk was the long-standing general secretary. The organization was dissolved at the beginning of the 1960s.
