Donbas State Technical University
Donbas State Technical University (Донбаський державний технічний університет; Donbaskyi derzhavnyi tekhnichnyi universytet). A technical school of higher education located in Alchevsk, Luhansk oblast. Established in 1957 as Voroshylovsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute, it was renamed Komunarsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute in 1961 and the Donbas Mining and Metallurgical Institute in 1992. In 2004 it was granted a state university status and assumed its present name. The university has seven faculties (including faculties of mining, metallurgy, civil engineering, and automation and electrotechnical systems), an evening school, postgraduate program, and engineering faculties in Yenakiieve, Krasnyi Luch, Rovenky, Lysychansk, Sverdlovsk, Pervomaisk (Luhansk oblast), Rubizhne, and Krasnodon. The university’s enrollment is over 16,000 (2010).
