Chas (Fürth)

Chas (Fürth) («Час»; Time). A liberal nationalist weekly published in Fürth, Bavaria, from December 1945 to mid-1949; its chief editor was Roman Ilnytsky, who was assisted by Mykola Koliankivsky and Zenon Kuzelia. Chas had well-developed cultural, economic, and women’s sections; leading émigré writers, primarily from the displaced persons camps in Germany and Austria, contributed to it. In 1949 Chas merged with the Paris newspaper Ukraïnets’ (see Ukraïnets’ u Frantsiï) to form Ukraïnets’-Chas, which was published until 1960.
