Bershadsky, Yuliian
Bershadsky, Yuliian [Бершадський, Юліян; Beršads’kyj, Julijan], b 21 January 1869 in Tyraspil, Kherson gubernia, d 26 September 1956 in Sverdlovsk, Russia. Realist painter. Bershadsky graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts (1899), where he studied with Ilia Repin, maintained his own studio in Odesa (1907–28), and taught at the Odesa Art Institute (1928–41). Among his paintings are Widowhood (1893), Interesting Story (1902), Woman Revolutionary (1906), Fishermen (1934), Holiday at a Collective Farm (1937), and Self-Portrait (1954).
