Arkhimovych, Lidiia
Arkhimovych, Lidiia [Архімович, Лідія; Arximovyč, Lidija], b 8 November 1916 in Kyiv, d 7 February 1990 in Kyiv. Musicologist. In 1947 Arkhimovych became a research associate at the musicology department of the Institute of Fine Arts, Folklore, and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in Kyiv. In 1969 she became director of the theater arts department of the same institute. Her works include studies of Ukrainian opera and musical culture, such as Ukraïns'ka kliasychna opera (Ukrainian Classical Opera, 1957) and Shliakhy rozvytku ukraïns'koï radians'koï opery (Paths of Development in Soviet Ukrainian Opera, 1970). She also co-authored M. V. Lysenko: Zhyttia i tvorchist' (Mykola Lysenko: His Life and Works, 1952); Muzykal'naia kul'tura Ukrainy (Musical Culture of Ukraine, 1961); and Narysy z istoriï ukraïns'koï muzyky (Essays on the History of Ukrainian Music, 2 vols 1964).
