Kharkiv Institute of People's Education

Kharkiv Institute of People's Education ( Kharkivskyi instytut narodnoi osvity im. O. Potebni or KhINO). A post-secondary educational institution organized in 1921 out of Kharkiv University. It had three faculties: professional education, social education, and political education, each with a four-year program. For many years its principal was M. Havryliv. In 1925 its enrollment was almost 2,000 and in 1930 over 3,000. The faculty in 1925 had 205 members. In the 1920s KhINO underwent Ukrainization. In 1932–3 Kharkiv University was restored by merging the KhINO, the Institute of the National Economy, and faculties of several other institutes.
