Pavlovsky, Andrii
Pavlovsky, Andrii [Павловський, Андрій; Pavlovs'kyj, Andrij], b 19 November 1789 in Valky, Kharkiv vicegerency, d 24 January 1857 in Kharkiv. Mathematician. A graduate of Kharkiv University (1809), he taught there from 1810, was a full professor from 1826, and served as rector in 1837–8. He was noted for his work in partial differential equations, algebra, and probability theory. His most famous student was Mykhailo V. Ostrohradsky.
