Dnister Estuary
Dnister Estuary [Дністровський лиман; Dnistrovskyi lyman]. Map: VII-11. Flooded mouth of the Dnister River, separated from the Black Sea by the narrow, sandy Buhaz Spit. The estuary is 40 km long, up to 12 km wide, and 1.5–5 m deep. It freezes in winter. Its southern portion is navigable. The towns of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and Ovidiopil are situated on the banks of the Dnister Estuary.
