Kazymyra, Bohdan [Казимира, Богдан], b 19 October 1913 in Cherniiv, Stanyslaviv county, Galicia, d 14 February 2007 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Historian, educator, journalist. A graduate of Louvain University (1935), the Greek Catholic Theological Academy in Lviv (1941), and Vienna University (PH D 1955), he taught sociology at the Theological Academy in Lviv (1935–9, 1942–4). In 1948 he established and directed the Ukrainian Press Bureau in Brussels and lectured at the Ukrainian theological seminary in Culemborg, Holland. Settling in Canada in 1950, he organized the Ukrainian Press Bureau in Edmonton and edited the monthly Katolyts’ka aktsiia (1950–5). Later he worked as a librarian and archivist. In 1963 he was appointed professor of sociology at the Ukrainian Catholic University (Rome). Kazymyra’s publications include numerous articles in history and sociology and pamphlets on the history of the Ukrainian Catholic church in Canada.
