Liubynetsky, Roman

Liubynetsky, Roman [Любинецький, Роман; Ljubynec'kyi], b 3 December 1885 in Chesnyky, Rohatyn county, Galicia, d 30 June 1945 in Komarov, near Plzeň, Czechoslovakia. Opera singer (lyrical tenor) and teacher. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Vienna (1914) and was a soloist at the opera theaters of Dresden (1914–15), Cracow (1917–18), and Zagreb (1918–29). His main roles included Faust in Charles Gounod’s Faust, Cavaradocci in Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, and Don José in Georges Bizet’s Carmen. In 1929–39 he was a professor at the Polish Conservatory in Lviv and in 1939–41, at Lviv Conservatory.
