Zimorowicz, Szymon (pseud of Szymon Ozimek), b 1608 or 1609 in Lviv, d 21 June 1629 in Cracow. Polish poet of Armenian origin; brother of Józef Bartłomiej Zimorowicz. In 1629 he wrote a famous cycle of 69 baroque love poems celebrating his brother's marriage, Roxolanki, to jest ruskie panny (Roxolankas, That Is, Ruthenian Maidens, pub 1654). In their form and structure they indicate the strong influence of Ukrainian folk songs.
