Zhukovich, Platon [Жукович, Платон; Žukovyč], b 26 September 1857 in Pruzhany, Hrodna gubernia in Belarus, d 13 December 1919 in Petrograd, Russia. Belarusian church historian; full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society from 1910 and of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Sciences from 1918. He graduated from the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy in 1881 and taught at seminaries in Polatsk (1881–3) and Vilnius (1883–91) before becoming a lecturer (1891–4) and then professor (1894–1918) at the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy. His major work was Seimovaia bor'ba zapadno-russkogo dvorianstva s tserkovnoi uniei (The Parliamentary Struggle of the Western-Ruthenian Nobility against the Church Union, 6 parts, 1901–12). He also wrote articles on the Church Union of Berestia and on Yosafat Kuntsevych, Prince Kostiantyn Vasyl Ostrozky, and Yosyf Rutsky, and published an important collection of materials on the Lviv and Kyiv church sobors of 1629 (Zapiski Akademii nauk po Istorichesko-filologicheskom otdelenii, vol 7, no. 15). A bibliographical article on Zhukovych by Kostiantyn Kharlampovych appeared in Zapysky Istorychno-filolohichnoho viddilu VUAN, vol 6 (1925).
