Zakhariiasevych-Lypa, Halyna
Zakhariiasevych-Lypa, Halyna [Захаріясевич-Липа, Галина; Zaxarijasevyč-Lypa], b 28 April 1910 in Rakhynia, Dolyna county, Galicia, d 10 June 1968 in Lviv. Graphic artist; wife of Yurii Lypa. A graduate of the Vienna School of Applied Arts (1938), after the Second World War she studied music and singing at the Lviv Conservatory (1945–8). In 1951 she found work as a textile designer. Her drawings, watercolors, and batiks are often based on Ukrainian folklore and are lyrical in mood. She did a postcard series and a series of illustrations to Ivan Franko’s poem ‘Kameniari’ (The Stonecutters).
