Zahaikevych, Bohdan
Zahaikevych, Bohdan [Загайкевич, Богдан; Zahajkevyč], b 5 February 1887 in Ternopil, Galicia, d 20 August 1967 in Irvington, New Jersey. Educator, collector, and civic activist; brother of Volodymyr Zahaikevych; member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society and the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Sciences. After graduating from Lviv University he taught at a secondary school in Peremyshl. During the First World War he served in the Ukrainian Galician Army. In 1922 he returned as a teacher to Peremyshl, where he also became director of the Stryvihor Museum and president of the Boian society. After emigrating to the United States in 1950, he devoted his time to the Shevchenko Scientific Society's regional studies series of regional collections and was editor of the Peremyshl volume.
