Zabila, Parmen
Zabila, Parmen [Забіла, Пармен; Russian: Забелло; Zabello], b 9 August 1830 in Monastyryshche, Nizhyn county, Chernihiv gubernia, d 25 February 1917 in Lausanne. Sculptor; descendant of the Cossack starshyna Zabila family. A graduate of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts (1857) and a member of the academy from 1869, he sculpted bas-relief portraits of the Kochubei family, busts of Taras Shevchenko (1869, 1872), portraits of M. Saltykov-Shchedrin (1879), Vladimir Makovsky (1894), and Volodymyr Borovykovsky, the statue of Aleksandr Herzen at his grave in Nice (1872), and a bust for the monument to Nikolai Gogol in Nizhyn (1881).
