Wynar, Bohdan [Винар, Богдан; Vynar], b 7 September 1926 in Lviv, d 9 November 2007 in Denver, Colorado, USA. Economist, bibliographer, and publisher; full member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Sciences [in the US] and the Shevchenko Scientific Society; brother of Lubomyr Wynar. A postwar displaced person and refugee, he graduated from the University of Munich (PH D, 1950) and the University of Denver (1958). He taught library science before becoming director of library education (1966–7) and dean of library science (1967–9) at the State University of New York College at Geneseo. From 1969 he was president of Libraries Unlimited, a major publisher of library reference materials and bibliographies, and of the Ukrainian Academic Press. Wynar wrote several monographs in Ukrainian economic history, including Ekonomichnyi koloniializm v Ukraïni (Economic Colonialism in Ukraine, 1958), Ukraïns'ka promyslovist': Studiia soviets'koho koloniializmu (Ukrainian Industry: A Case Study in Soviet Colonialism, 1964), Materiialy do istoriï ekonomichnykh doslidiv na emigratsiï, 1919–1964 (Materials in the History of Economic Studies in the Emigration, 1919–64, 1965), and Rozvytok ekonomichnoï dumky u Kyïvs'kii Rusi (The Development of Economic Thought in Kyivan Rus’, 1974), and articles on economics and other subjects for various journals and for the Entsyklopediia ukraïnoznavstva and the Encyclopedia of Ukraine. He also wrote, edited, and compiled numerous works in library science and bibliographies.
