Voronovych, Mykhailo

Voronovych, Mykhailo [Воронович, Михайло; Voronovyč, Myxajlo], b 1868 in Saint Petersburg, d November 1918 in Zhmerynka, Podilia gubernia. State figure. A large landowner and former governor of Bessarabia, he was one of the key participants in the coup which put Pavlo Skoropadsky in power on 29 April 1918, and president of the congress of the All-Ukrainian Union of Landowners at which the Hetman government was proclaimed. He served as an associate to the minister of internal affairs in Fedir Lyzohub’s cabinet and as minister of information in the Sergei Gerbel government. He was killed in late 1918 during the uprising which toppled the Hetman government.
