Volia (Vienna) [«Воля»; Freedom]. A political weekly published in Vienna from June 1919 to November 1921; the last three issues appeared as Volia Ukraïny. Edited by I. Mursky, S. Adelsberger, L. Shopak, and Viktor Pisniachevsky (pseudonym: A. Horlenko), Volia reported extensively on political developments in Ukraine and is a good source of information on the last years of Ukraine’s struggle for independence (1917–20). It also covered Ukrainian émigré affairs and Western policies toward Ukraine, and published excerpts from German, French, and British newspapers; reviews; and a chronology of events.
