Vinnytsia State Academic Music and Drama Theater
Vinnytsia State Academic Music and Drama Theater (Вінницький державний академічний музично-драматичний театр ім. М. Садовського; Vinnytskyi derzhavnyi akademichnyi muzychno-dramatychnyi teatr im. M. Sadovskoho). A theater established in Vinnytsia in 1940 on the basis of the Vinnytsia Oblast Theater of Opera and Ballet founded in 1933 by Mykola Sadovsky’s pupil S. Butovsky. The theater has staged classical Ukrainian, Western, Russian and Soviet plays. Notable performances included the staging of Gotthold Lessing's Emilia Galotti, an adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel Notre-Dame de Paris, Bertolt Brecht's Der kaukasische Kreidekreis, Mykola Arkas's Kateryna, and Lesia Ukrainka’s The Forest Song. Among its members have been Fedir Vereshchahin, Anatolii Ovcharenko, M. Pedoshenko, Ivan I. Sadovsky, and Ivan Sikalo, V. Selezniov.
